FEATURED NEWS ![]() 2008 Jazz Festival Kicks Off The sounds of jazz are emanating from music halls around the city. The Rochester International Jazz Festival kicked off its nine-day run. More than 800 musicians representing 15 nations will perform in nearly 250 concerts. Fifteen venues in and around the East End are hosting the shows. Last year's festival brought in a record 121,000 jazz fans. Organizers hope for an encore. "Production, production, production. It's all about people walking away saying this was an awesome, awesome performance,” said Mark Iacona, Executive Director of the Rochester Jazz Festival. “I saw somebody I never saw before. But do the same thing. It's not about being the biggest, it's about being the best in what we do." Frank Sinatra Jr., Al Green and Boz Scaggs are among this year's headliners. The Rochester International Jazz Festival runs through June 21.
